Funny Friday, Blacker Than Obama?

In January Rod Blagojevich was chastised for saying "I'm blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where we lived," Blagojevich said. "I saw it all growing up." Later, Blagojevich said the comment was "stupid, stupid, stupid." He said it was meant as a metaphor for his disappointment with Obama, whom he accused of doing more to help Wall Street than Main Street. Opinions Start Coming In on Solano Cartoon Character

Opinions so far are mixed on whether the cartoon character looks like me or not. My Administrative Assistant thinks it looks kinda like President Obama. One of the secretary's thinks it looks like a Bill Cosby Cartoon character. My wife still says it looks like me. A couple of people have commented and they say it looks like me. We have probably all seen or heard of John McCain’s latest TV ad, which calls Obama a "celebrity". The ad comes complete with pictures of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton and suggests he's not ready to be president. Now Paris Hilton has released an ad of her own.

After my last sobering post I thought we would do a Funny Friday especially since I have not done one for a while. In this clip the officers from Reno 911 talk about recruiting efforts at their department. As you all know its getting harder and harder to recruit new officers so these two unveil their newest recruiting tool.

Together We Can Change History!

Together we can change history, Or at least we can correct it.

R. Parker from the windy city posted my comments lamenting the fact that I lost out on a lunch due to misinformation from Our Campaigns, on the Our Campaigns web site. Within 20 minutes of R. Parker's post, the web site was corrected. If you don't remember back in July, I made an attempt to win a free lunch from Joe when he had a contest on his blog which offered the meal if you could answer this question: What were the names of the four candidates who sought the 1982 Democratic nomination for the District 3 northern congressional seat in New Mexico. One of the names I submitted was Charles Perez which I obtained from Our Campaigns, Joe insisted this was incorrect and that the candidate was actually George Perez.

I claimed a conspiracy and called for a congressional investigation. LOL. Anyway, today I found a large number of visits to my blog from the Our Campaigns website. I investigated and found that R. Parker posted my comments along with a link to my blogpost. about 20 people followed the link to my blog. George can now relax knowing that history has been corrected. And me ? I'm still hungry.

More news on the dancing inmates of Cebu !

In my last Funny Friday I showed a video of The Dancing Inmates of Cebu Philippine's dancing to Michael Jacksons Thriller. Turns out the Philippine Government is now heaping praise on the jail and staff and nominating it for an award for its outstanding programs implemented by local government units. The inmates version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance has been viewed over 3.2 million times on Youtube as of Wednesday. The media is really running with the story, even Al Jazeera is reporting on the program.

I thought dancing to Michael Jackson to be cruel and unusual punishment. Turns out they dance to several other musical selections and they had less degrading dance numbers like this one:



I don't know its seems a little less degrading? Maybe this will start an international trend with dance offs between jails. I see the Santa Fe County Jail in the finals vs Bernalillo County Detention Center. Santa Fe bieng more liberal, the inmates would dance to Edwin Starr's "War", you know the tune:

Ok, its one in the morning and I am really daydreaming, or awake at night dreaming. I'm not sure, can you daydream at night?

Funny Friday- Dancing Inmates

Belive it or not, here is 1,500 plus CPDRC inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines at practice! Supposedly this is not a punishment! Seems cruel and unusual to me.

Looking for Joe Monahan ?

I won't be sitting at the side of I-25 with a radar gun looking for Joe Monahan, or will I ? LOL.
I made an attempt to win a free lunch from Joe when he had a contest on his blog which offered the meal if you could answer this question: What were the names of the four candidates who sought the 1982 Democratic nomination for the District 3 northern congressional seat in New Mexico.

Graduating from Santa Fe High in 1982, the extent of my political experience at the time was spending many an elementary school summer break hanging around the Roundhouse with my grandmother Eufemia Solano who was a custodian. I vividly remember Governor Bruce King who always treated me nice and let me play in his office more than once. Many a Senator or House Rep. bought me a candy from the vending machines or a drink from the small cafeteria.

I also remember my mother volunteering for Governor Tony Anaya during his first run at the Governor's seat. My family was never really political however we did vote and take part in politics from time to time. Ok, I digressed so back to the contest. Of course I could not remember the 1982 District 3 race although we did live in the district. I do remember Roberto Mondragon and his many visits to our schools over the years where he sang "O Fair New Mexico" and other songs. So I did what any geek like me would do I searched the internet. It actually took some time before I came upon the website ourcampaigns.com which actually a friend of my wife's found. See the extent I would go to just to have a free lunch?

Of course as all of Joe Monahan's readers now know the web site was incorrect. Or was it? The site lists George Perez as Charles Perez. Perhaps the site was right and Joe just did not want to buy me lunch. Could this be one of the conspiracy's that Joe often talks about on his blog? Could Joe be powerful enough in New Mexico Politics to get Charles Perez to change his name and keep Joe Monahan from having to buy me my Taco Plate from Sadie's in Albuquerque?
Hmm, perhaps an investigation is needed. Seems like a job for Eye on Albuquerque.

Either way I am firing off a stern letter to ourcampaings.com telling them they owe me lunch. I wonder if Attorney General Gary King will take the case, this is a fraud if I ever saw one........

I hear the train a comin, it's comin round the bend - I ain't seen my eye shadow since I don't know when. I'm stuck in Century Regional just tryin to stay alive, but that limo keeps a rollin on down to Rodeo drive.
